WELCOME TO MAX'S COOKING AND FOOD BLOG

I started this blog to document my cooking adventure. Not in a far far away land but in my very own kitchen.

Cooking is something new to me since eating out was something I do all the time pre-MCO. My cooking was limited to heating up stuff and instant noodles prior to the pandemic.

When the kerajaan announced the enforcement of MCO, I started to make something simple like sandwiches - one recipe a day so that I won't' get bored! Ordering food deliveries can burn a hole in your pocket and can't 100% eliminate the risks of COVID-19. So, I guess, the naturally prudent thing to do is to cook at home. I have all the time in the world, anyway.

I began to experiment with my air-fryer which had been gathering dust. I started to use more settings for my microwave. I scoured the internet for recipes. I watched more cooking tutorials on YouTube than movies.

The more I cook, I the more I fall in love with cooking. I am amazed at how convenient and easy to cook using the air fryer. Why didn't I discover it sooner? It uses almost 90% less oil than conventional frying. So easy and hassle-free - just pop it in, set the timer, go do my stuff and come back to the kitchen when it is done. Unlike conventional deep-fry, I don't have to deal with the leftover oil.

Before this, I am saving for travel/runcations, now all I want to do is to buy stuff for cooking! LOL!

This blog is more like a personal journal of my cooking journey. Just like how I started a blog to document my running journey in 2004 -> http://runwitme.blogspot.com/

I will share tried-and-tested recipes (in English and Bahasa Malaysia) here along with some food-related news, food reviews, product reviews and anything about food which I find interesting enough to share.

I hope you'll find this blog useful to you.

Regards,
Max

AIR-FRYER: KEROPOK LEKOR

How to fry Keropok Lekor using an Air Fryer: 1) Brush some oil evenly onto the keropok. You can use any cooking oil. I use coconut cooking oil. You can do without the oil, but your keropok will turn out a bit dry and dull-looking. If you apply some oil, it will help seal in the moisture and gives that "deep-fry" appearance to the keropok.  2) Air-fry at 180 deg C for 10 mins, check if cooked and increase the cooking time as needed. 3) Enjoy! Tambah masa memasak jika perlu. 3) Jom makan!

NASI KARI KAMBING TIN ADABI (CANNED MUTTON CURRY RICE)

This is my second attempt to do this viral spicy aromatic rice. My rice turned out to be too wet in my first try. Thanks to the recipe from my friend, Intan Suraya, I finally got it right!
