AIRFRYER: PORTUGUESE GRILLED SQUID/ SOTONG BAKAR ALA-PORTUGIS

Just because you can’t travel doesn’t mean you can’t explore the vibrant flavours of the world’s cuisine. Had a craving for the Portuguese grill dish. So, I thought, why not make it myself? Viola! Portuguese grill (air-fried) squid for dinner without having to go to the Portuguese Settlement in Melaka!

It's a very easy dish to make if you have the commercially available Portuguese Grill Fish ready-made paste. Just wrap the seafood, some okra, red chillies along with the paste into a sheet of aluminium foil. Air-fry at 180°C for 20 minutes.

The main ingredient - squid. If squid is not your thing, replace it with prawn, fish, stingray, lala or any seafood you fancy.

Instead of banana leaf, I used Glad Cook and Bake Non-stick sheet to line the aluminium foil. Fold everything nicely before putting into the airfryer.

Ding! Done in 20 minutes at 180°C in the airfryer. Please be careful. The foil is very hot!

When unwrapping the foil, make sure to be careful of the hot steam. A dish best enjoyed with steaming white rice.
