FOOD REVIEW: SIMFONI HARI RAYA FROM HOTEL MAYA KUALA LUMPUR

No open house. No gathering more than 20 people. No balik kampung. COVID-19 has really turned out world upside down. What do you do when you crave for Raya delicacies? Thanks to Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur – we can still enjoy a Raya feast at home without slogging it in the kitchen or getting arrested for crossing state to go back to the kampung.

The Simfoni Hari Raya set meals are available from 24 May to 22 June for delivery and pick-up. Each set comes with choices of rice, meat, chicken, soup, veggies and dessert. Just pick whatever you like from the delicious options available. Only RM60 for two persons.

The meals are hygienically packed in plastic containers and delivered fresh to your doorstep! Each set comes with complimentary dodol dan rempeyek!

Here’s what we have ordered. Delicious and definitely a winner to satisfy the crave for Raya staples. Have a feast at home with Simfoni Hari Raya!

Nasi Pelangi. I chose this because I know it is gonna be pretty in the photo. Heheh! Fragrant multi-coloured rice, perfect for a festive feast! Other options available are Nasi Minyak and Nasi Putih.

Beef Rendang - A spicy and rich Raya delicacy made of beef, spices and coconut milk. The Other two meat options are Daging Kerutub and Daging Kurma.

Ayam Masak Merah. Another favourite of mine. A red-hot Malay traditional dish of fried chicken cooked in spices, chillies and tomatoes  Other choices available are Ayam Rendang and Ayam Masak Kicap.

Sup Daging or Sup Soto Ayam? I picked Sup Daging - with chunky tender meat in a robust and boldly flavoured soup.

Pajeri Nanas - One of my favourite dishes. Sweet and savoury. If pajeri is not your thing, you can pick from the other two veggies options - Sayur Lodeh or Tempe Berlada.

Bubur Cha Cha - A thick and creamy dessert made of colourful noodles, yam and sweet potatoes in coconut milk. Other options available are Bubur Kacang Hijau and Sago Gula Melaka.

Each set comes with complimentary Dodol and Rempeyek

What's Raya without satay? I ordered 1/2 dozen mixed chicken and meat satay, available ala-carte in the Simfoni Hari Raya menu. They came with yummy Kuah Kacang with sides of cucumber, onion and Nasi Himpit. Delicious!

Which is your favourite Malay dish? Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur offers a great deal for your family this festive season. Delivery or pick-up.
