Bought this pack of Colman's seasoning mix out of impulse while I was grocery shopping in Village Grocer, Avenue K. It is a spicy seasoning mix with chilli powder and cumin for the Mexican classic dish.
Ingredients (Serves 4)
- 1 sachet Colman's chilli con carne seasoning mix
- 400 grams lean minced beef
- 2 medium onions chopped
- 150 ml cold water
- 400 grams can chopped tomatoes
- 400 grams kidney beans drained
- 1/2 red bell pepper
Method
- Brown the mince, onion and bell pepper in a saucepan. Drain off any excess fat.
- Blend the contents of the sachet with the water and add to the mince, along with tomatoes and kidney beans.
- Bring to the boil, stirring continuously. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes until thoroughly cooked.
