REVIEW: AYA REAL FOOD'S SHIROI PONZU

What is Shiroi Ponzu? It is a Japanese citrus based sauce. Rich in seaweed and finished with yuzu, this sauce is given a buttery, garlicky twist for even more umami. It can be used for adding some zing to your salads, as a dipping sauce, or serve with shabu-shabu.

I couldn't find any recipe using this product in the net, so I decided to create my own using Aya Real Food's Shiroi Ponzu.

I decided to cook Shiroi Ponzu with pomfret in my airfryer. I added a clove of sliced garlic and few slice of lime for aesthetic as I think the sauce is complete on its own.

Aya Real Food's Shiroi Ponzu (120g)

Ingredients: Onion, Oil, Garlic, Spices, Herbs, Lime Powder, Salt & Pepper

No MSG, Gluten-free, Vegetarian, No Preservative, No Artificial colours

It comes in a pouch. Once opened, you can store them in the refrigerator (at 0°C) or in the freezer (at -18°C). In the refrigerator, it can keep for 3-4 days while in the freezer, it can last for up to 3 months.

I used one whole pack of the Shiroi Ponzu to slather the pomfret, not forgetting the cavity of the fish.  Wrapped everything up in a aluminum foil lined with Glad's Cook and Bake paper (usually I use a piece of turmeric leaf as a liner but I was too lazy to run to the store to buy it)

Air-fry the pack at 180°C for 15 mins or so.

The Shiroi Ponzu Pomfret is ready!

Look at how beautiful it is.... I garnished the fish with some spring onion.

The sauce is sweet and citrusy, complements the fish very well.

Done in less than 30 mins including preparation!

I also tried making some salad dressing using the Shiroi Ponzu - add some olive oil (just a little but because the Shiroi Ponzu is already oily) with some roasted sesame. Here I served it with some kale and cherry tomatoes.

Verdict: The Shiroi Ponzu sauce is delicious and suits the pomfret very well. Being a non-spicy sauce, it is suitable for kids and people who are not into tongue-burning chilli-based sauces that are usually used to make grill fish. I like it very much as it is easy to cook with and I didn't have to add anymore seasonings like salt to it.

AIR-FRYER: KEROPOK LEKOR

How to fry Keropok Lekor using an Air Fryer: 1) Brush some oil evenly onto the keropok. You can use any cooking oil. I use coconut cooking oil. You can do without the oil, but your keropok will turn out a bit dry and dull-looking. If you apply some oil, it will help seal in the moisture and gives that "deep-fry" appearance to the keropok.  2) Air-fry at 180 deg C for 10 mins, check if cooked and increase the cooking time as needed. 3) Enjoy! Tambah masa memasak jika perlu. 3) Jom makan!
